Heron Water Lodge
At Heron Water Lodge you will receive the warmest of welcomes and genuine, friendly hospitality. Opened in 1997, the lodge enjoys magnificent views of the Knysna Heads as well as the hills and forests surrounding Knysna. The lagoon is only 20 metres from the lodge, and there one can swim safely at high tide, walk on the beach at low tide and admire the abundant bird-life, or simply explore the rugged African coast-line.

Knysna is situated in the heart of the Southern Cape's Garden Route.
Surrounded by indigenous forests it nestles on the edge of the Knysna lagoon. In the centre of the lagoon and opposite the Heads is Leisure Isle, where it is rumoured that pirates anchored and camped in the 17th century waiting for the Dutch trading ships laden with spices from the East Indies.
With its friendly climate Knysna is perfect for a year-round holiday, or for a prolonged stopover between Durban and Cape Town
A View of Knysna
Its arty shops, engaging scenery and many restaurants will assure the holiday-maker of something interesting to do every day. There is stupendous hiking and bird-watching, good swimming, water sports and, of course, golf. The Garden Route is fast becoming one of the golfing centres of Africa.
Boasting six outstanding courses within a thirty minute drive, there is plenty of golf available at a
very reasonable price. During 1999 a further three championship courses will be constructed within
ten minutes of the centre of Knysna.

• Glenda and Peter are both enthusiastic golfers and they are happy to organise either individual games or complete tours for their guests.
