Hiking Trails


Sacramento Trail

The trail of 8kmm traverses the Sardinia Bay Nature Reserve. The walk starts at the west end of Schoenmakerskop and follows the coast to Sardinia Bay returning along the top of the vegetated dunes and via bridle paths.
Trail of the Roseate Tern
The 9km walk starts at the entrance gate to the Cape Recife Nature Reserve, Which is situated next to the Pine Lodge Resort off marine drive(M5). The trail runs along the beach as well as through rooikrans stands, fynbos and scrub vegetation.

Settlers Park Walks
Explore the pathways and lawns of Settlers Park. Entrance to the park can be gained from How Avenue, the bottom of Brickmakers Kloof, Fordyce Road and Chelmsford Avenue.


Lower Guinea-Fowl Trail

The trail is 7.5km long, starts at the Third Avenue dip in Newton Park and makes its way to Settlers Park through the cities green belt.


Upper Guinea-Fowl Trail

The upper trail is 6km and makes its way up the Baakens Valley from the Third Avenue dip in Newton Parks to Hawthorn Avenue in Sunridge Park.

Aloe Trail
The short (2km) and long walk(7km) start at the top of Tippers Creek Road between Amserdamhok and Bluewater Bay. The circular route takes walkers along the escarpment and back through the Valley bushveld on the plateau.


Flamingo Trail

The Motherwell stormwater canal is the start of this 9km trail in the Zwartkops Nature Reserve. Access is via a dirt track along the river from Corobrik factory adjacent to the Bramlin\Markman Highway.


Mountain Bike Trails:

Baakens River Mountain Bike Trail

This 20km starts at Dodd's Farm, at the bottom of 9th Avenue Walmer. The trail runs along the green belt through the city.

Zwartkops Mountain Bike Trail
A 22km trail starts at the Corobrik factory on the north bank of the Zwartkops River, adjacent to the Bramlin-Markman Highway. The trail traverses the Zwartkops Valley Nature Reserve, proclaimed in 1993.
