PLETTENBERG BAY
The "Jewel of the South African Garden Route "

First, a little information about our town -

Plettenberg Bay, is to South Africa what St Tropez is to France's Riviera, and famous as one of the most beautiful resort areas in South Africa, enjoying a marvelous temperate climate, both winter and summer, with warm sea temperatures , more sunshine and less wind than many other coastal resorts. Situated 23 degrees East 34 degrees South, 520 km East of Cape Town and 240 km South West of Port Elizabeth.

Flanked on three sides by the magnificent Tsitsikamma mountains and the Indian Ocean to the East we are surrounded by lush indigenous forests.
The peninsula of Robberg extends some 4 km eastwards into the sea and acts as our natural barrier against the prevailing winds.

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS : The following weather statistics have been taken over the past 3 year period substantiating our claims of a temperate climate :

We fall within a winter / summer rainfall area.
Traditionally our 'winter' months extend between June and August, with August being the coldest month. (Average minimum 13 degrees C, average maximum 17 degrees C).
Most of our rainfall occurs between August and September. (Between 64 - 99mm respectively ).

Our 28 km of natural unspoilt beaches incorporate three main swimming beaches, these being Central, Robberg and Look Out. Our lagoon merges with the sea to provide a host of water sports including water skiing, boating , and wind surfing. Rock, surf and deep-sea fishing and scuba diving are popular activities as are golf (two golf courses within a 3km radius of the Central Business District), tennis, bowls, forest trails, horse riding, and spectacular coastal drives.

From July to September, Plettenberg Bay is home to the Southern Right whale (Eubalaena australis) which comes here to calve in our bay. The dolphins play in and amongst our bathers and frolic in the surf .

The estuaries of our Keurbooms and Bitou rivers are home to an extensive range of birds and a haven for 'birders' from far afield. A recent sighting was that of 8 American Golden Plovers who had drifted some 11 000 km off their migratory course.

Plettenberg Bay has a permanent resident population of 44 000 spread over an area of approximately 1 200 km2, approximately 25 000 of which reside within the confines of the Greater Metropolitan area. Our town is serviced by daily Airlink flights to and from Johannesburg. George (approximately 100 km) and Port Elizabeth (approximately 240 km) airports enjoy daily flights to and from the major cities and international airports. Our town is serviced by all the major car rental firms and also offers the services of 5 major banks, national chain stores, boutiques and a host of restaurants.

Whilst Plettland Estates predominately trades in Plettenberg Bay real estate, our activities expand, within a select property portfolio, to the surrounding areas of Knysna, Sedgefield , Wilderness and George with a resident agent in the Wilderness / Hoekwil areas near Geoge.

Development Opportunities- Plettenberg Bay is a developing town which has seen significant increases in both tourism and the permanent resident sectors. This has had the effect of creating new opportunities with ready markets for developers, particular examples embracing the fields of up-market hotels and health hydros (possibly embracing an up-market golfing resort) as well as retirement villages complete with frailcare facilities. A number of prime, well placed (and suited), development sites exist at varying prices which support the feasibility of such developments.

An example of what we have to offer in the development category is a prime 15 hectare river front property with a fully refurbished home with an under roof area of some 1000 m2 plus outbuildings, swimming pool, gazebo etc. Excellent potential to develop this prime property into an up market hotel

Priced to sell at R6 million
